An 8 a.m. start meant the ballplayers had to be at Lakeside Field on 7:15 a.m.. Groggy coaches and ballplayers found a field in delightfully good condition (San Mateo National doesn't flood their fields on Saturday mornings!) with perfect weather. Matched against a similarly capable Hillsborough team, the Demons found a great day for play, with hot bats but some spotty defensive play.
This week saw the return of Wesley, who'd been competing the last few weeks in a Soap Box Derby (he came in third!). Wes heralded his return to the field by turning two double-plays - one of them solo! Wyatt pitched a very strong inning where he struck out two and fielded the inning's only put out, helping his cause in typical Wyatt Welch fashion. Jaxon, Miles and Michael all took turns on the mound as well. Hot bats all around with hits coming from almost all the team, including a pair of doubles from Sam and Wyatt. Miles showed his hockey goalie instincts at third where he was tested with several line drives, but none got past him. If we'd been keeping score, the game probably would have been about 13-12. Donuts were a hit after the game!

Wow, Thank you for the warm welcome back. I can't wait to show Wesley. Great blog.
