A Moment Captured - A Family Portrait

The family Hammer. Zoe puts the Hammerlock of Love on her brother. Zack. Zack Hammer. He likes his root beer, dry. Der Hammers mit haunds. Zoe and Milo. Again with the Hammerlock of Love, this time from Mom. I really loved this shot, if only the hilights weren't so blown out! Evidence that paradise can be found on earth - this woman loves me!

A casual reader of this blog knows by know that I'm an avid amateur photographer. Not surprisingly, I'm far more comfortable behind the lens than in front of it. Cherie and I decided it was time for a family portrait. You can see the dilemna.

Fortunately, we know a great portrait photographer. Actually, I should say we're friends with a great portrait photographer because the magic of portrait photography isn't in the lighting or posing but in the rapport between photographer and subject. So we asked Jennifer Hogan to arrange a "sitting" and boy were we happy with the results. Between the facts that Jen is a talented artist and storyteller and that she knows all of us (and we feel quite comfortable with her), we just had a great late afternoon together on the wood chip path along San Franciscito Creek. She was also using a Hasselblad H1 with a Leaf back, which made it geeky photog fun for me. Thanks, Jen. We've never looked better.
